Water Quality Report

We Passed Our Annual Water Quality Report!

We are pleased to provide you with the 2011 Water Quality Report, which shows that your drinking water continues to meet all state and federal water quality standards.  Since 1990, California public water utilities have been required to provide an annual Water Quality Report to their customers. This year’s report covers calendar year 2010 water quality results.

Your Drinking Water

Nearly all of the water we need in our service area is imported.  Most of it starts as melted snow from the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains and makes its way via streams, rivers, aqueducts and pipelines to our area.  The water travels hundreds of miles across deserts and over mountains conveyed by two engineering marvels – the State Water Project and the Colorado River Aqueduct.

Approximately 80% of the water we need in our service area is imported from Northern California and the Colorado River through Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

About 10% of our water comes from our local Groundwater Recovery Facility, which extracts water from the San Juan Groundwater Basin and converts it to potable water using reverse osmosis technology.

The balance of our water supply consists of locally recycled water, which is non-potable and used to irrigate larger landscaped areas.
