Late Friday afternoon, the tunnel contractor working on the District’s Tunnel Stabilization and Sewer Pipeline Replacement Project discovered a separation in a lateral (the sewage pipe that connects your neighborhood sewage pipes to the main sewers) connecting to the tunnel. Work immediately stopped, and our crews, along with the tunnel contractor, inspected the lateral with video cameras and devised a plan to repair the lateral. The lateral is currently being repaired.
There should be minimal disruption in the neighborhood except for a vactor truck that is temporarily being used on Sea Cove Dr. to assist in the repairs. You may have noticed the crane on 4th Ave working for a brief time on Saturday and Sunday to transport crew members down into the shaft and the tunnel.
We anticipate the repairs being completed in the next few days. We will let you know if anything changes.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
