Wayne Rayfield appointed to the South Coast Water District Board of Directors
On Thursday, March 25, 2021, the South Coast Water District Board of Directors appointed former board member Wayne Rayfield to serve Director Dennis Erdman's remaining term. Director Erdman resigned his seat when he was appointed to the Metropolitan Water District representing the South Orange County Water Agencies.
Mr. Rayfield is a former SCWD Director. He left the board in December 2020 after serving on the board since 2008.
Wayne has lived in Dana Point (Monarch Beach) since 1994 and is a long-standing ocean water quality advocate. He was first elected in 2008, then re-elected in 2012 and 2016. He served as president of the board for many terms.
Rayfield was elected to the Dana Point City Council in 1998, re-elected in 2002, and served as mayor in 2005. Governor Schwarzenegger appointed him to the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board in 2007. He is also a former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Ocean Institute.
Rayfield retired from the World Bank in Washington, D.C., after 23 years; he had directed the Bank's information and technology activities. Prior to that, he was on the University of Wisconsin faculty and directed the University's Computing Center.
Rayfield is a graduate of Lehigh University and has a degree in Engineering Geophysics. He and his wife have six children and 12 grandchildren.
The term will end in 2022.
